How to Repair the Power Steering Pump on the Peugeot 407

This model is equipped with an electro-hydraulic power steering pump: an electric motor drives a gear pump that compresses and pressurises the oil that operates the hydraulic steering box. One of the most common faults with this pump model is the failure of the oil seal, causing oil to leak from the pump reservoir into the engine, leading to contamination of the electronic board, which then stops functioning. Therefore, you need to disassemble the electric pump, separating the pump from the motor to access the board plate, desolder it, and clean everything from the oil contamination. Obviously, to resolve the issue, the oil seal should also be replaced.
