In this video, see how to reset the AL4 automatic gearbox in a Peugeot 508 - the same type of gearbox is also fitted in Citroen models - but remember that this gearbox requires careful preventive maintenance, with regular oil changes. If you use the gearbox a lot in the city, you need to periodically perform this reset.

Close the driver's door, ensuring the windows are up. Turn on the ignition, pull the handbrake, and shift from "P" to "N" where you will remain for two minutes. You will hear a beep; wait for it and then shift to "D" and wait for one and a half minutes, after which shift back to "P". Once done, turn off the ignition, remove the key and your foot from the brake, open and then close the door, and you're done; you will notice the gearbox is much smoother, with no more jolts between gears.
