The bulbs for the third brake light located at the centre of the upper trim of the rear hatch are already of the LED type. To replace them, you essentially need to desolder the faulty LED and solder in a new one, which requires the appropriate equipment and some familiarity with soldering. To carry out the repair, first remove the third brake light: open the rear hatch, remove the cap at the centre of the upper trim, and then remove the side trim to access the nuts securing the third brake light so you can remove it. Next, disassemble the light unit to access the circuit board where the LEDs are attached, replace the faulty LED(s), perform a functionality check by powering the LEDs, and then reassemble in reverse order.
