Disassembly of Intermediate Shaft Bearing

Only perform this repair if you have the proper equipment and good mechanical knowledge, as it is necessary to disassemble the transmission, and any mistakes could severely compromise its operation. Once the transmission is disassembled, apply the reference phase locks to the crankshaft pulley and camshafts; then drain the transmission fluid to prevent spillage after removing the Intermediate Shaft bearing (IMS). Remove the nut on the shaft while blocking its rotation with a flathead screwdriver; unscrew the mounting bolts of the flange in front of the bearing and remove it with the appropriate puller; use pliers to extract the retaining ring of the bearing and apply the specific puller on the intermediate shaft to extract it along with the bearing, proceeding very slowly. To install the new bearing, use the appropriate centering tool, then apply the retaining ring, the central nut, and the flange.
