- Years 1997-2005 It is recommended to carry out this repair only if you have good knowledge of mechanics and have adequate equipment! The first operation to be carried out is therefore to disassemble the gearbox from the car to place it on a workbench where you can proceed with the replacement of the intermediate shaft bearing, but not before having put the engine in phase by turning the shaft pulley. engine until the pin is inserted into the hole and the relative template has been applied to the camshaft. Therefore, unscrew the gear oil drain plug, the nut in the center of the intermediate shaft bearing and the three fixing pins of the flange and remove the latter with the special extractor. Using needle nose pliers, release the bearing retaining seeger ring and apply the specific extractor to remove the bearing from its seat. Therefore, carefully clean the bearing seat and install the new one by centering it with the special tool; insert the seeger ring again, making sure it adheres perfectly to its groove and finally reapply the flange (tightening the fixing pins with the torque wrench with a torque of 10 Nm) and the central nut (with 12 Nm). At this point it is possible to reassemble the gearbox by tightening the fixing pins with a torque of 80 Nm.
