Inspection of a Dual Mass Flywheel

This video examines the dual mass flywheel of the Porsche 911 (which is the same as that of the Porsche 996). After outlining general safety precautions when working on these parts (well-ventilated workspace, use safety glasses and protective tools, work with adequate lighting), the inspection of the dual mass flywheel begins. The yellow arrow indicates the point on the flywheel that should be observed to check its wear condition if replacement is desired. The guide then explains that when analyzing the flywheel, the integrity of the springs in its first section must be checked. The test for this check involves rotating the flywheel to the right and left: it should move in either direction by a maximum of 15 mm. To verify this range in the second section of the flywheel, simply mark a line with a marker at the screw, rotate it as explained previously, and then mark a new line. The measurement obtained must still be within the 15 mm range. Repeat this operation for both directions.
