Replacing Shock Absorbers

Model: RAM 1500 BR, BE, MK 2 - Years 1994-2001

To replace the front shock absorbers, first lift the vehicle and remove the wheel. Then, unbolt the screw at the base of the suspension that secures the shock absorber to the lower arm. Disconnect the upper plate that holds the spring by unscrewing the bolt that connects it to the upper mount of the shock absorber. From inside the hood, unscrew the bolts that secure the mount and the shock absorber to the frame. At this point, the shock absorber can be pulled out from the top. Remove the mount and the bearing by unscrewing the nut that secures them to the top of the shock absorber and reinstall them on the new one. Now you can proceed to reposition the part.
