To replace the front shock absorber on a RAM 1500, first lift the vehicle and then remove the bolts from the wheel corresponding to the shock absorber being replaced. Once this wheel is completely removed, loosen the bolts securing the shock absorber: the lower bolts will be accessible from the bottom of the axle, while the upper bolts must be loosened by accessing the engine compartment.

At this point, the old shock absorber can be pulled out and replaced with a new one.
