How to Replace Spark Plugs on a Renault Megane II

Let's see how to change the spark plugs on a Renault Megane II: first, disconnect the negative battery cable, then disconnect the ignition coils by unplugging the electrical connector from each coil; unscrew the fixing nut using a 10 mm socket. Gently pull the coils upwards, being careful not to damage the cables. It is advisable to photograph the order of the coils or work on one at a time. Use low-pressure compressed air to blow away dirt from the spark plug wells: this prevents debris from falling into the combustion chamber when unscrewing the plugs. Insert the spark plug socket into the well and unscrew them, then remove them from the socket. Now install the new spark plugs, applying dielectric grease only to the first half of the threads, then screw them in by hand to avoid damaging the threads: finally, tighten with a torque wrench to 25 Nm. Spray a bit of electrical contact cleaner inside the coil caps and reinstall each coil in its well. Secure the coils with their nut; reconnect the electrical connectors and reconnect the negative battery terminal. Start the engine and let it run at idle for a few minutes.
