Problems with a Renault Scenic III 1.5 dCi Emitting Thick White Smoke from the Exhaust

In this video, we see a Renault Scenic III 1.5 dCi emitting thick white/blue smoke from the exhaust, with a burnt oil smell. There is likely an oil leak in the turbo, causing engine oil to enter the exhaust line due to worn seals. The issue may also lie with the PCV valve: excessive pressure in the sump can draw oil into the turbo and burn it. To confirm this, observe the engine oil level; if it drops quickly without leaks, it indicates burning. Also, inspect the exhaust pipe for oily deposits at the turbo outlet. Check the shaft play by removing the downstream pipe from the turbo and moving the impeller sideways: if there is more than 1 mm of play, the turbo needs servicing. On this engine, a faulty turbo consumes 1 litre of oil every 500/1000 miles.
