How to Change Engine Oil and Oil Filter on a Renault Scenic III

To carry out this operation, first open the bonnet and unscrew the oil filler cap (this will help drain the old oil more easily). If you decide to use a cleaner (like LiquiMoly ProLine, available on Amazon with code B001CZSG94 for £16.48 with free delivery for Prime customers), add it and let the engine idle for 10-15 minutes. Raise the front of the vehicle, remove the plastic undertray from under the engine, position a collection bucket under the oil sump (you will later dispose of oil and filter at an authorised centre), and using a square key, unscrew the drain plug and let it drain completely. The oil filter is located at the top of the engine: place a container to catch the residual oil from the filter and, using a filter key, unscrew it counter-clockwise and remove it. Lubricate the seal of the new filter with clean oil and screw it in by hand until it makes contact, then tighten it half a turn. Now replace the sump plug and lower the vehicle after reattaching the undertray. Pour 90% of the oil through the upper cap and close it. Start the engine for 30 seconds to fill the filter, turn it off and wait a minute. Check the oil level with the dipstick and add a little oil at a time until the level reaches just below the "max" mark.
