The Renault Zoe tends to alarm owners with messages like "check electrical system". The most likely cause is a flat or faulty 12V auxiliary battery, especially after periods of inactivity or in cold weather. The solution is to recharge or replace the battery. It could also be due to a rodent nest: rodents love electric cars, where there is no oil or fumes. They can chew through wires and hoses, causing this error. On older Zoes, a control unit records the water pump's RPM: this is not a fault but an "ageing counter" that can be reset with a compatible Renault EV diagnostic scanner.
