How to Replace the EGR Valve on a Renault Trafic

Model: Renault Trafic MK 2 - Years 2001-2014

The EGR valve is located at the top of the engine, connected via a metal pipe to the exhaust manifold and has an electrical connector. To replace it on a Renault Trafic, turn off the engine and wait for it to cool down. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and remove the access elements. Remove the engine cover and the air box, along with the air duct using an 8 mm socket and a star screwdriver to unscrew the screws. Next, disconnect the electrical connector and unscrew the securing bolt of the EGR valve using a 10 mm socket with an extension. Remove the valve and gaskets, clean the mating surface and install the new gasket; insert the new valve and secure it with screws using the 10 mm socket with an extension. Tighten the bolts and reconnect the connector, reconnect the negative terminal of the battery and refit the air box and air duct. Refit the engine cover and close the front bonnet. Turn on the ignition to check that no engine warning lights are illuminated.
