How to Change the Oil and Filter on the Renault Trafic

On the Renault Trafic, to correctly perform the oil change and filter replacement, always work with the engine warm and safely: vehicle on level ground, handbrake engaged, and if needed, use approved axle stands. Prepare a collection bowl, gloves, and all necessary equipment, as the oil can be hot and easily spill. Locate the drain plug on the Renault Trafic's sump and position the bowl underneath. Unscrew the plug, allowing the oil to fully drain, and wait a few minutes until the flow reduces. Meanwhile, move to the oil filter on the Renault Trafic: remove it with the appropriate tool, being careful of any residual drips. Before fitting the new filter, check that the old seal is not left in place, then lightly lubricate the new filter seal with a thin layer of oil and screw it in until it is snug, tightening without overdoing it. Close the drain by refitting the plug, then top up the oil through the filler cap using the correct specification for the Renault Trafic (quantity and grade may vary depending on the engine, so refer to the handbook or your engine code data). Start the Renault Trafic for a few seconds, switch off, and check for any leaks around the filter and drain. After a few minutes, check the level with the dipstick and adjust it between minimum and maximum.
