Location of the Starter Motor on the 2013 Renault Trafic

On the Renault Trafic MK2, the starter motor is generally located at the bottom of the engine, near the gearbox. On this vehicle, the engine is longitudinally positioned under the passenger compartment; the starter motor is found on the right side of the engine (looking from the front towards the rear of the vehicle), attached to the gearbox and engages with the flywheel. It is a cylindrical component about 15/20 cm long, with a thick electrical terminal (positive battery cable) and a smaller connector for the ignition command. It is not easily visible from above; you will need to remove some components, such as the air filter and the battery; in fact, it is preferable to access from below, raising the vehicle and removing the underbody protection.
