How to remove the starter motor from a Renault Trafic or Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro

Let's see how to replace the starter motor on a Renault Trafic or Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro: we need to remove the grille and front protections, then unscrew the bolts of the front bumper. The starter motor is located in the front part of the engine compartment, visible through a hole, after we have removed the bumper: it is more easily accessible from the front, rather than from the bottom. As always, before working on the electrical system, disconnect the battery, then remove the electrical connectors and fixing bolts, then extract it through the access hole. In this way, we avoid removing the air filter, front lights, and other components of the engine compartment: the traditional method from the bottom requires at least three hours, while instead removing the front grille will not take more than 60 minutes. We recommend using protective gloves and a set of long sockets, given the limited space available.
