In this video tutorial, we can see how it is possible to clean the EGR valve in a Renault Megane 2 by following some simple steps: the first thing to do is to get inside the car, turn off the engine, and engage the handbrake. Then, lift the hood and secure it with the appropriate rod, remove the engine cover. Now we can see the EGR valve and its intake duct (the valve is used to recycle the gases that the engine did not burn, so it quickly gets dirty). It is recommended to clean it regularly to prevent engine malfunctions. Insert a thin flathead screwdriver into the slot under the connector; the valve is held in place by three bolts, one of which is located behind the valve. With a socket wrench, we need to loosen the bolts and finish unscrewing them by hand. Remove the valve by moving it laterally from side to side and also remove the intake duct of the EGR valve. To do this, the black support of the engine cover must be removed. Cleaning the valve is a fairly long process and should be done using a degreaser that needs to act for about 20 minutes. Then, it is recommended to clean the parts with gasoline for a thorough cleaning. Use a brush to clean the inside of the duct. Once the parts are clean, we need to reassemble them.
