Replacing the Timing Belt on the Twingo 1.2 Version 1

This video shows how to replace the timing belt on the Renault Twingo 1.2 Version 1. The engine must be set to the base position, that is, at the top dead centre of the first cylinder, aligning the markings found on the engine block and the camshaft. You will also need to lock the flywheel with a pin. Now you can rotate the tensioner pulley and remove the timing belt. When reassembling the tensioner pulley, pay attention to the two pegs that must be inserted correctly; also, the timing belt has arrows indicating the direction of rotation. To fit the belt, start from the toothed wheel of the crankshaft; the line must align with the timing mark, follow the diagram to reposition the belt. Remove the pin from the tensioner pulley to begin the correct tensioning. Then, using an Allen key, tension the belt via the tensioner pulley, turning counterclockwise, until the eccentric is centred in the recess. To verify, run the engine for six revolutions forward, then check the tension.
