The starter motor on this Seat Ibiza 6L was worn out: it turned the engine very slowly, and in most cases, the car wouldn't start. Being a 1.9 TDI with high compression, it requires a lot of power to start.

You can find the component on eBay with the code 188062127229 for £66.33, with free delivery. There is good space under the bonnet, making the operation easier, especially if you first remove the battery.

Disconnect the electrical connector, remove the plastic cover protecting the main cable, and take out the two bolts securing the starter to the engine. For the bracket, there is a 30 mm nut and an 18 mm bolt.

Lift the starter and insert the new one, reconnecting the earth cable, and reassemble the battery box. After turning the ignition on a few times to allow fuel to rise, the car starts promptly.
