- Years 2004-2012 In this video tutorial, we can see how to replace the spark plugs in a Skoda Octavia 2 1.8 TSI: get inside the car, turn off the engine, and engage the handbrake; the next step is to lift the hood and secure it with a special rod. Remove the engine cover to access the spark plugs. Disconnect the coil power supply by lifting the connector support tab and pulling up the terminal. Gently remove the coils. Use a vacuum cleaner to clean around the coil housing. Use a 16mm socket wrench with an extension to unscrew the spark plugs. Once the spark plugs are unscrewed, install the new spark plugs and tighten them with a torque wrench according to the manufacturer's instructions. Reassemble all the parts in reverse order.
