How to replace the key battery of a Smart Fortwo? Follow these steps: take your ignition key and use a screwdriver to lever between the two plastic halves until they separate. Remove the flat battery (using the screwdriver) and take a new one of the same size and voltage. Refit the two parts of the key fob cover until you hear them click into place. Check the key fob's functionality by testing the door lock and unlock buttons.
