Replacement of Starter Motor

Model: Subaru Forester SG, MK 2 - Years 2002-2008

Before proceeding with the removal of the starter motor, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. The starter is located on the right side of the engine (when viewed from the front), just above the gearbox. Disconnect the positive power supply from the solenoid and proceed to unscrew the mounting pins of the starter itself (the one located at the bottom is a bit more difficult to unscrew; use a screwdriver to lever it out from its seat and then reverse the process for installing the new starter). It is recommended to opt for a refurbished starter rather than a new or used one.
