How the Facial Recognition Seats Work on the Subaru Forester

Model: Subaru Forester MK 5, SK - Years 2018-2025

This version of the Subaru Forester is equipped with the Driver Focus system, which uses an infrared camera to recognise the driver and automatically adjust the seat and mirrors. The system can store up to 5 different profiles, also helping to detect distractions or drowsiness. To configure it, sit in the driver's seat, start the engine, and adjust the seat, side mirrors, and rearview mirror (even in reverse, if they tilt). Then, by pressing the "INFO" button on the steering wheel, navigate through the menu to "Driver Monitoring System". Select "Register User" and choose a profile (e.g., Driver B). Look straight at the camera above the dashboard until the system recognises your face. You can also customise the name and icon. Once saved, every time you get in the car, the system recognises you, even with sunglasses (tested with clear lenses), and automatically repositions everything. To delete profiles, go to "Delete All Users".
