This guide shows how to dismantle the starter motor on a Suzuki Grand Vitara Mk1; this procedure is also applicable to the Suzuki XL-7. The first step is to remove the engine air filter box and the exhaust manifold shield. The starter motor is located at the rear of the engine, towards the bottom of the chassis. At this point, disconnect the electrical cables and then remove the two bolts securing the motor. It is advisable to access the engine bay from underneath the vehicle to perform this last operation.
