In this video, see how to change the gearbox oil on a Toyota RAV4 MK3: first, you will need some quality transmission fluid, which you can easily obtain from any e-commerce site. Start by draining the old fluid into a container for disposal at an authorised centre.

From the top, gradually add the new fluid until clean fluid starts to flow from the bottom. At that point, refit the plug at the bottom without over-tightening and ensuring it is clean.

Add 3.8 litres of fluid, always adding it slowly. Start the engine and cycle through each gear for at least ten seconds.

Check the level, and the job is done.
