Replacing Rear Bonnet Struts

Model: Toyota Celica T230 - Years 1999-2006

Open the rear bonnet and ensure it is supported safely using a prop. If you cannot extract the strut (or gas spring) from the ball joint, cut it and then unscrew it from the edge of the bonnet to replace it with a new one (if necessary, try heating the joint pin with a lighter to facilitate removal). Then, attach the head of the new strut to the ball joint and secure the other end to the bodywork. Proceed in the same way for the replacement of the other strut. Remove the prop and check that the bonnet holds itself up.
