How to Change the Rear Hatch Gas Struts on a Celica

Model: Toyota Celica T230 - Years 1999-2006

Are the gas struts that hold up the rear hatch damaged? Let's look at removing the damaged parts and installing the new ones. Lift the hatch and secure it. Using a screwdriver, remove the retaining clips on the strut at the hatch side. Unscrew the screws on the hatch side near the body. Disconnect the worn strut and install the new piece in the two mounts. Secure the strut with the metal clips. Repeat the same process for the removal/installation of the strut on the opposite side. Test the operation of the previously installed struts.
