How to Unlock the Steering Lock in Your Car

Here’s how to unlock the steering lock in seconds. Turn on the ignition and hold the steering wheel firmly, turning it slightly to the right and left with one hand. While doing this, use the other hand to start the engine by turning the key or pressing the button. This will release the lock, freeing the steering wheel. Why does it lock? It’s a safety device that activates when you turn off the car and remove the key to prevent theft; however, it can sometimes jam if the wheels are under stress or if the steering wheel is moved after the vehicle is turned off.
