Work with the engine warm, on a flat surface, and secure the vehicle with axle stands or a ramp; prepare an appropriate container for collecting the used oil and wear gloves and safety goggles. Lift the car enough to access the underbody and position the container under the sump. Unscrew the drain plug and allow the oil to drain completely, then clean the area and replace the plug with the gasket in good condition (or new, if required), tightening according to the manufacturer's specifications without over-tightening. Next, move to the oil filter: unscrew it with the appropriate tool, removing it carefully as it may leak residual oil, and check that the old gasket has not stuck to the seat. Before installation, lightly lubricate the gasket of the new filter with a thin layer of clean oil and screw it in by hand until it is snug, following the specified tightening procedure. Return to the engine bay and top up through the filler cap, pouring gradually, then check the level with the dipstick. Start the engine for a few seconds, turn it off, and wait for the oil to settle; recheck the level and inspect from below to ensure there are no leaks around the plug and filter. Complete the level if necessary and close everything up.
