Is the gear knob on your Toyota due for replacement? Here’s how to remove it from the gear stick. Use a lever to detach the trim covering the central tunnel up to the ashtray, then grasp the gear knob and unscrew it until it is removed from the gear stick (cut the plastic tie). For reassembly, fit the new leather gaiter, take the new knob and slide it onto the stick in the central tunnel, then screw it onto the stick. Secure the gaiter with the tie. Test the correct installation of the knob by moving the stick in the central tunnel. Keep the gear numbering vertical.
