Disabling the Alarm Beeper

The engine of the Toyota Prius shuts off when you stop, so it’s easy to forget it will move when you press the accelerator. As a safety measure, Toyota has installed a loud beeper that sounds when the car is in reverse. Some people find this sound annoying. Fortunately, it is easy to disable. With your foot on the brake pedal, press the start button to turn on the car. Press the trip odometer button until "ODO" appears on the dashboard (if it is already in this mode when you start the car, press the button three times to cycle through the "trip" modes until you return to the "ODO" mode). With your foot on the brake pedal, press the start button to restart the car. Press and hold the trip odometer button within six seconds of starting the vehicle. Continue to hold the ODO button for at least 10 seconds, but do not release it until after the next step. While holding the ODO button from the previous step, after 10 seconds have passed, shift the car into reverse and quickly press the park button. Now release the trip odometer button. Press the trip/odometer button until the display shows "b off."
