Thermostat Replacement on Toyota Yaris

Lift the bonnet and place the support rod in position. To locate the thermostat, look under the alternator: there you will find its housing. To avoid making a mess, place a cloth under the area you are working on. Unscrew the nuts that secure the housing using a quarter-inch socket, being careful not to lose the nuts. Once unscrewed, open the housing just enough to extract the thermostat and its gasket with pliers and insert the new one you purchased, ensuring you use a new gasket. Close everything up by properly tightening the securing nuts.
