Replacing the Starter Motor on a Toyota Corolla 4-4D MK2

Let's see how to replace the starter motor on the Toyota Corolla MK2: you can find it on auto-doc for £75.30 plus £9.95 delivery. First, remove the engine cover; there are only 4 screws. Next, take out the water reservoir, which is also held by just two screws and is clipped in. Then, remove the battery and its base. The vehicle shown has a cone air filter, which also needs to be removed but is quite simple to take off; for those with the original filter box, just remove the bolts around it and take it out. First, remove the air filter and then the battery. After disassembling these components, you will have better access to the starter motor. Now, remove the U-shaped pipe next to it by first taking off the bracket that holds it in place. Be careful as it is under pressure. This allows you to disconnect the connector going to the starter motor. Now, unscrew the two bolts highlighted in the video to remove the starter motor from its housing. You may need to move the clutch pedal pipe for easier access. Finally, remove the part. Refit the starter motor in its place and reassemble all the parts in reverse order. Job done.
