What Does the TRAC OFF Light Mean on a Toyota?

If you notice the TRAC OFF light illuminating on your Toyota's dashboard, it means you have pressed the TRAC OFF button located on the left side of the steering wheel. Whether you pressed the button intentionally or by mistake, it disables the TRAC (traction control) and/or VSC (vehicle stability control) systems of your vehicle. The VSC indicator looks like a vehicle skidding with the word OFF. When your Toyota is stuck in snow or mud, you may need to disable TRAC or VSC. These systems can reduce the power transferred from the engine to the wheels, which is not ideal when you are stuck. In all other conditions, it is always recommended to keep TRAC active.
