What happens if the pulley of the service belt breaks?

In this video we can see what happens if the pulley of the service belt breaks, usually built on a metal support screwed to the engine shaft and a part designed to dampen vibrations. If the belt does not turn, on many cars the water pump stops, the alternator does not work, probably the steering wheel becomes hard due to the power steering that no longer works: in short, a disaster. Sometimes the pulley can come off in a strange way, so the belt slips off and starts turning in the engine compartment, tearing wires and pipes. In the case illustrated in the video, the pulley rotates two belts, of which the outer one is the air conditioning compressor. In this example we see that the pulley spins freely, due to the crack that has formed inside, but in other cases the rubber part completely detaches from the metal part, causing breakages, which fortunately did not occur in this case.
