What does the oil light really mean

We are driving calmly, we have a clear conscience regarding the maintenance schedule, and suddenly a red warning light comes on in the dashboard: already a red warning light is disturbing, red warning lights indicate an immediate danger and require the immediate stopping of the vehicle. But the warning light that has come on depicts a vial with a drop: the oil warning light. This does not mean that there is no more oil in the car, but that there is no more "oil pressure". So the reason may be that the oil pump is malfunctioning, and no longer circulating the lubricant in the system; or actually there is a low level of lubricant and the pump cannot circulate it; or that the oil is so contaminated that the pump cannot pressurize it. In any case, it is necessary to stop immediately and call a tow truck.
