How does the throttle body work in conjunction with the accelerator pedal?

When you press the accelerator pedal, there is no longer a mechanical cable that connects it directly to the engine, but there is a position sensor that detects when and at what speed we have pressed the pedal. The electric signal from the pedal sensor travels to the ECU, which processes the request, taking into account a series of other real-time data, such as: the gear engaged; the engine temperature; the engine speed; active controls (ESP/ASR). Based on all this information, it decides how much air is needed to meet our request efficiently, safely, and in compliance with anti-pollution regulations. The ECU sends a command to an electric motor integrated in the throttle body, which opens and closes it, just as a cable would, but in an extremely precise manner.
