What is the reason why AdBlue crystallizes? It is not directly the fault of the air, but of three factors: first of all, low temperatures, because the cold promotes the separation and solidification of the components; the increase in the percentage of water in the mixture, because AdBlue is composed of 37% demineralized water and 33% technical urea. If the mixture absorbs external moisture (for example, from condensation or from unsealed tanks), the percentage of water increases, altering the balance and promoting crystallization. There is also contamination from external agents, such as contact with dust, fuel residues, or incompatible materials. When AdBlue is poured outside, it absorbs moisture from the environment, so not from the air itself, but from the water vapor present, which triggers crystallization due to differential evaporation. To avoid this, the first thing is proper storage in dry and cool environments and well-sealed containers; avoid contamination during refueling, and be cautious of low temperatures.
