There are reasons why it is mandatory to deactivate the front passenger airbag. Typically, this switch is located on the outer side of the dashboard, on the passenger side, and is activated and deactivated with the key used to start the vehicle, or with a button in cars without a key ignition.

The main reason for deactivating the front airbag is when transporting a very small child, who must be seated in their specific child seat (commonly referred to as an "infant carrier") facing the rear of the vehicle. An airbag deployment for this type of occupant is extremely dangerous, so it is a legal requirement to deactivate the airbag when the child is travelling in this manner.

However, remember to reactivate it once the child is removed from the vehicle.
