How to Check if the Battery and Alternator are Working Correctly

To determine if the alternator and battery of your vehicle are functioning correctly, you need to obtain a high-voltage tester. Connect the red lead and the black lead of the tester to the positive and negative terminals of your battery, respectively. Turn on the tester and place it next to the battery; the charge will be displayed. If the battery is functioning well, it should show a charge of 12.8 volts; if it is not functioning properly, it will start to drop from 12 volts. Perform the same procedure to confirm the alternator's operation. To check if the alternator is working correctly, it should have a voltage of 14.8 volts or higher. If not, it will need to be replaced. If the battery discharges quickly during vehicle use, it may be necessary to visit a workshop for a vehicle scan, as both the alternator and battery may be functioning correctly.
