Symptoms of poor maintenance of the EGR valve include loss of engine power, noisy engine on startup, black smoke from the exhaust, and the engine warning light constantly illuminated on the dashboard. To prevent these symptoms from activating and damaging the vehicle's engine, it is advisable to perform maintenance from time to time. Today, we will explain how to clean the EGR valve yourself. To clean the valve, open the front bonnet and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to ensure there is no current in the vehicle. Using a torque wrench, unscrew the locking nut of the valve and disconnect the connector to remove it completely. Place the valve on a work surface and spray cleaner on the inside and outside of the valve before reinstalling it and checking that the vehicle operates correctly.
