In this short video, the author explains in detail how an oil pressure sensor works. Firstly, it clarifies that it does not read the oil level, but the fact that there is little oil implies that this sensor intervenes to alert the driver promptly. As explained, if the oil pressure is insufficient, it can lead to engine seizure! The sensor operates very simply. It is installed on the body of the oil sump and inside it has a pin that either makes or breaks the contact that closes the circuit. If this circuit is not closed due to insufficient pressure, as mentioned earlier, the warning light will illuminate and immediate action is required.

To check the oil level on a Jeep Renegade, you need to open the bonnet to access the components inside the engine bay: on the lower left side of the engine block, you will find the dipstick for checking the level. This should be pulled out and thoroughly cleaned with a cloth: once cleaned, reinsert it back into its tube and pull it out immediately after.
