To cool the lubricant temperature inside the engine, there is a radiator known as a heat exchanger because it is traversed by the radiator fluid in one circuit and by the lubricant in another. Heat exchange occurs through the fins where the two fluids pass: the oil cools by contact with the colder radiator fluid, and the radiator water heats up, warming the cabin in winter. Naturally, this component can also fail, causing the oil and coolant to mix.
