What does it mean to smell exhaust fumes inside a diesel car?

In this video we can see the reasons why we smell exhaust fumes inside the cabin of our diesel car: in fact, lifting the car, we discover that there is a leak of exhaust fumes, with the turbine and EGR valve completely smoked. Unfortunately, to reach a solution, we have to disassemble everything, because it is impossible to see anything at first glance. Once we have reached the core of the problem, we see that the issue is caused by the EGR heat exchanger, so there is still a lot to disassemble. Once we have laboriously reached the heat exchanger, we see that the fin that deflects the flow of exhaust gases is broken and therefore unusable. We have to change all the gaskets, the tube, and the EGR heat exchanger, which we reassemble and then, after cleaning them, we put back in place all the pieces we had disassembled. After verifying "olfactory" that the problem has been solved, we can consider our operation concluded.
