Engine Mounts are Important: Neglecting Them Can Cause Serious Engine Damage

The engine rests on three rubber mounts, which tend to dry out over time, losing their vibration-damping properties. One is located near the cylinder head, another near the gearbox. The third is a small link that attaches at the centre, between the gearbox and the engine, and connects to the chassis on the other side, preventing the engine from rocking and putting strain on all the pipes. If this small link breaks, it can lead to failure of all the pipes, resulting in potential breaks and leaks. Therefore, from 31,000 miles onwards, these mounts should be checked to avoid worse issues.
