How do you change the battery of a Volkswagen Passat key fob? Follow this guide to disassemble the key. First, press the key release button to free the key insert space. Take a screwdriver and pry apart the two plastic parts, separating the covers exactly in the middle. Pull apart as shown in the video to open the cover into two pieces. Once you locate the worn battery, replace it with a new one (with the same specifications and dimensions). Refit the two covers by pressing one against the other. Finally, join the two covers and close the metal key.
