Today's step-by-step instructions will show you how to activate and deactivate the electric handbrake of the Volkswagen Golf. First, get into the vehicle and turn on the instrument panel and the engine; then press the handbrake button to deactivate it, as shown in the video.

When you stop the vehicle, you will need to pull up the handbrake button to activate it; engage the gear or parking mode if you have an automatic gearbox.

With the automatic gearbox, the handbrake will deactivate as soon as the accelerator is pressed in drive mode.
