How do you replace the dead battery in a Volkswagen Passat key fob? Watch this video to find out. Take your key fob and slide the button to release the metal key. Once extracted, use a screwdriver to pry open the key cover until the two pieces separate. Remove the battery holder, replace the worn battery (replace the buttons if damaged) using a screwdriver, and take a new one of the same size and voltage. Reassemble the cover with the buttons by pressing on the key fob until you hear the locking click. Finally, insert the metal key back into the fob. Check the key fob's functionality.
