How do you change the key fob battery on a Volkswagen Passat? This detailed video shows how: take the key fob and slide the button to release the metal key. Once extracted, use a screwdriver to pry open the key cover until the two pieces separate, then remove the worn battery (replace the buttons if damaged) using a screwdriver, and take a new one of the same size and voltage. Refit the cover with the buttons by pressing on the key fob until you hear it click into place. Finally, insert the metal key back into the fob. Check the proper functioning of the fob.
