In this video we see where the airbag module of the Volkswagen Golf IV is located: this module - it is the internal module, not the one on the steering wheel - is a fundamental component of the car's passive safety system. It is a small box, which in this case is positioned in the driver's footwell, on the right side, near the pedals.

This component contains all the necessary elements for the operation of the airbag itself: when the sensor detects a collision, it sends a signal to the airbag module, which in turn activates a chemical reaction that produces high-pressure gas.
